Who We Are

We are Building to Last

Welcome to NDC Trades, the Black Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to educating black, immigrant, indigenous youth, and their communities about the vast career opportunities in the skilled trades.

How NDC Started

Led by our visionary founder, a master electrician with 16 years of industry experience, we have partnered with local trades unions to create a transformative platform that opens doors and sparks inspiration within underserved communities. Through our programming, mentorship initiatives, job site tours, and community engagement, we strive to empower individuals, one step at a time.

We recognize and understand the unique challenges and barriers that Black youth often face when pursuing good careers. We believe in addressing these obstacles head-on and creating pathways to success. One of the primary barriers is the lack of knowledge and information about the vast opportunities available in the skilled trades. Many Black youth are unaware of the potential career paths, the skills required, and the financial stability that trades can provide. Through our initiatives, we aim to bridge this information gap, ensuring that Black youth are equipped with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their futures.

Vision

NDC Trades (Neighbourhood Developing Careers) is not just a non-profit organization, it is a dedicated group of people who are committed to empowering under-served communities with knowledge about career opportunities in the skilled trades. Our vision is to create a future where everyone, regardless of their background gets the chance to build a better future for themselves through exposure to the opportunities in the skilled trades. We are committed to making this a reality for our community.

Mission

We strive to bridge the information gap created when underrepresented groups devalue the trades as a desirable career through communications, outreach, and events. It is Neighbourhood Developing Careers’ ongoing mission to provide education, guidance, and mentoring to Black, underrepresented, racialized and newcomer youth and their families, connecting them to opportunities for rewarding careers in the trades.
